Champions League

CL - Boring match but good enough for United

Champions League SF, 1st leg
Nou Camp, Weds 23 April 2008

FC BARCELONA 0

MANCHESTER UNITED 0

It is always great to play against Barcelona because I love to see match that full of attacking. However, I am quite disappointed with last night 1st leg semi final match. Not only because Ronaldo failed to convert a penalty for United in the 1st minute….but the whole match is pretty boring!!!

Normally, United played with single striker in Champions League match but last night when Teves has been listed with Rooney and Ronaldo is also around, I am pretty damn sure… I will see at least 3-4 goals in this single match!! But it is quite shocking because not even 1 goal has been scored!!

What should i say about the whole match??

OK…it seems that United work hard for a draw and Barcelona works hard not to let United scored!!

So, 0-0 is a pretty fair result and what the both team pray for!! congratulations to both!

Hopefully, United can win at Old Trafford!!

Champions League, My Manutd

CL - I hope for Manutd vs Chelsea in the final!

Yeah yeah..my prediction is only 50% correct. It supposes to be 100% correct but the luck is not there for Fenerbache and Arsenal. When Fenerbache won at home 2-1 and Arsenal draw 1-1… I almost confidence that my prediction will be correct. Unluckily, Fenerbahce didn’t defense well in their return leg and the referee helps Liverpool for that controversial penalty after the match that almost in Arsenal hand!!

With Manchester United will face a mouth watering match up against Barcelona and Chelsea will face Liverpool again in semi final… I am quite confident United will go through and hopefully they can meet Chelsea. Although, I believe it is easier for United to be the champion if they meet Liverpool but I hate Liverpool more than Chelsea!

Champions League

CL - Manutd almost there… after 2-0 at Rome!

Champions League Q/F 1st Leg
Stadio Olimpico, Tue 1 April

MANCHESTER UNITED 2
Ronaldo 39, Rooney 66

United delivered the model European away performance in Rome on Tuesday– strong in possession, resilient during the inevitable Roma backlash, and ruthlessly scoring two away goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney did the damage, presenting the Reds with a glorious opportunity to make the Champions League semi finals later this month. But, take note, the job is only half done. Roma weren’t without their chances, and they will come to Old Trafford in a week’s time knowing they’re up against it, but not out of it.

This wasn’t the all-out attacking United of Saturday’s 4-0 thumping of Aston Villa, but it was the kind of performance Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have sometimes lacked away from home in Europe in recent years.

The United boss made a few changes from Saturday’s win. He was able to select Michael Carrick despite the midfielder sitting out training in Rome the night before. There was a recall for Ji-sung Park (his first European start this season) in place of Ryan Giggs, and Carlos Tevez settled for a place on the bench as Anderson made up a three-man central midfield alongside Carrick and Paul Scholes.

Luciano Spalletti, Roma’s coach, said that his players would not just stand and admire a team he regards as “the best in the world”. Their 7-1 defeat at this stage last year is clearly a wound that has not yet healed. So much so that Spalletti threatened not to present Sir Alex with a bottle of his favourite Tuscan wine after the game – “no more gifts, on or off the pitch,” he said, half jokingly.
