New record for fastest red card

A player with English minor league club Chippenham Town has set a record for the fastest-red card in senior soccer when he was sent off for a wild tackle three seconds after kickoff, British media reported on Monday.

Striker David Pratt, 21, was dismissed in a Southern Premier League game against Bashley on Saturday.

The previous fastest sending-off is generally accepted to be 10 seconds for Bologna’s Giuseppe Lorenzo after he struck an opponent in a 1990 Italian league game.

English soccer’s previous “best” was 13 seconds when Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Kevin Pressman handled outside his box in a game in 2000.

Also in 2000 an English amateur player, Lee Todd, was sent off after two seconds when he responded to the referee’s whistle to start the game by saying “xxxx me, that was loud” and was dismissed for foul and abusive language.

Wow!..what a record! 3 seconds??..fuuhhh…

Manchester United – The Best in England..The Best in Europe..and now..The BEST in THE WORLD

manchester united champion of the world 2008

Just about an hour ago… Manutd has beaten Liga de Quito 1-0. It is quite entertaining match. With playing only 10-man for the most of 2nd half after Nemanja Vidic has been sent off, 1-0 is not bad at all. Manutd should lead by 3 or 4 goals in first half but it is LDU goalkeeper, Carvellos that save the day for LDU. 2nd half is quite nervous after Vidic sent off but thanks to Rooney.. his 73rd minute strike give Manutd the Club World Cup title.

At the end.. the final result is 1-0. Manchester United crowned the World Champion. Rooney has won the GOLD award as the player of the tournament with Cristiano Ronaldo got SILVER award and Manso captured the BRONZE award.

Wayne Rooney scored the goal that saw 10-man Manchester United crowned Club World Cup winners in Yokohama with a 1-0 victory over South American champions Liga de Quito of Ecuador.

England striker Rooney steered his shot inside the far post to end United’s frustrations after Nemanja Vidic was been sent off four minutes into the second half for an elbow on Claudio Bieler.

Rooney ensured the Red Devils got the reward they deserved with his third goal of the tournament following Cristiano Ronaldo’s pass 16 minutes from time.

Rooney told Five: “It’s fantastic. It’s a great achievement by us. We are really delighted and proud that we are the world champions. And to score the winning goal is a great feeling.”

United captain Rio Ferdinand said: “Now we can say we are the best team in the world. We knew they could create problems but I think today we kept them down to a minimum of chances.”

It is the first time an English club has won the tournament in its expanded form while United did triumph in the old Intercontinental Cup in 1999 with victory over Palmeiras.
